On its surface, November might seem like a month of stasis. After the busy summer and awaiting the lead up to Christmas, the 11th month of the year feels like a grey area regarding events – and usually the weather too. However, guests at London Hotels near Hyde Park needn’t worry if they’ve booked their holidays in London for this in-between month, there’s still plenty on offer to enjoy and dive into when visiting the Great British capital.

From new music festivals to centuries-old traditions, November in London may not yet have festive light shows and might have already placed the pumpkins on the compost heap, but there’s plenty more for centrally located guests at hotels in London near Oxford Street to enjoy. This blog will outline some of the best events in the city taking place between the 1st and 30th of November.

Bonfire Night

Bonfire night

Taking place on the 5th of November, Bonfire Night is a tradition unique to England and especially important to the city of London. Held in commemoration of the failed assassination of King James I of England – the gunpowder plot instigated by Guy Fawkes – bonfire night is celebrated through firework displays and bonfires across the UK. This year, guests of London accommodation offers can enjoy firework displays at Alexandra Palace, Battersea Park, Southwark and across many other boroughs of the city. Make sure to book tickets in advance though, bonfire night event tickets sell like wildfire.

Lord Mayor’s Show

A tradition in London for over 800 years, the Lord Mayor’s show takes place on the 13th of November and sees horse-drawn carriages, parades and performances take over a 5 mile stretch of Central London. Expect crowds, dancing and colourful, diverse festivities as well as huge wicker “guardians of London” Gog and Magog across this exciting and often overlooked event.

EFG Jazz Festival

The EFG London Jazz Festival is a must for any music, and especially jazz lovers staying in London this November. Between the 12th and 21st of November, hundreds of jazz musicians, both established and emerging, will perform across dozens of London’s best venues.

Deck The Halls At Pergola Paddington

Guests at the Bayswater Inn Hotel feeling the festive spirit early this year can enjoy the Pergola Paddington’s Alpine chalet themed dining and drinking venue this year. With a heated outdoor area festooned with fairy lights, the Pergola Paddington will offer specially crafted Christmassy menus as well as sumptuous, Christmas-cheery cocktails.

Winter Wonderland Hyde Park

Winter Wonderland Hyde Park

Ice skating and festive markets abound, London’s flagship Christmas event always opens in mid-November so that visitors can beat the crowds. This year will see fairground rides, family-friendly ice-skating performances and even ice-built vodka bars taking over Hyde Park between the 19th of November and the 3rd of January.

Pitchfork Music Festival

Pitchfork Music Festival

If it’s broader music genres than just jazz you’re on the hunt for, the Pitchfork Music Festival is coming to town between the 10th and 14th of November – although there probably will be jazz acts to0! Pitchfork is the go-to for alternative music news and reviews, so it’s unsurprising that revolutionary acts such as Black Midi and Stereolab will be gracing London’s coolest venues in the first-ever London-set Pitchfork Festival.
